VSA at the Wildhorse
On Oct. 26, 2007, VSA arts Tennessee hosted an event for nearly 1000 special education students at the Wildhorse in Nashville. At this event, the students witnessed three dance companies which were partially or completely comprised of dancers with disabilities. At the end of the performances, the special education students were invited to come and dance with the professionals.
This program was offered free of charge due to the gracious support of Harman Becker Automotive Systems. Other supporters included the Tennessee Arts Commission, Nashville Metropolitan Arts Commission and Publix Supermarket Charities.
A similar program for special education students was offered in 2006 at the Ryman Auditorium featuring musicians with disabilities. That program also included an evening performance for the general public.
VSA arts Tennessee is in the process of determining the 2008 performance venue.
